In a resounding affirmation of West Bengal's industrial prowess, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee highlighted the state's top performance in the unincorporated MSME manufacturing sector, as revealed by the latest survey findings. Released by the National Statistics Office, the data underscores West Bengal's leadership in manufacturing enterprises, accounting for 13.81 percent of workers in this category.
Meanwhile, West Bengal also boasts the highest share of manufacturing enterprises at 16.02 percent and 'Other Service' enterprises at 13.09 percent across India. A notable highlight is the state's achievement in female entrepreneurship, with the highest proportion of female-headed establishments at 36.4 percent nationally.
The survey, covering the period from October 2023 to September 2024, underscores the unincorporated non-agricultural sector's pivotal role in absorbing labor and contributing to GDP. In broader terms, there has been a robust increase in establishments, with a significant growth trajectory observed in other services and manufacturing sectors.
