The Express Industry Council of India (EICI) recently unveiled a comprehensive White Paper, highlighting the critical role of the existing Express Cargo Clearance System (ECCS) in India's logistics framework. The document, developed in collaboration with the Bureau of Research on Industry and Economic Fundamentals (BRIEF), aims to ensure the smooth incorporation of the ECCS into the upcoming Customs Integrated System (CIS).

The White Paper identifies the ECCS as a pivotal element in bolstering India's trade initiatives and streamlining the country's e-commerce. Recommendations include developing a dedicated express clearance module, preserving core ECCS functionalities, and ensuring continuous industry engagement during the CIS development process.

Highlighting the sector's rapid growth, the report forecasts the Courier, Express, and Parcel (CEP) market's expansion from $8.62 billion in 2025 to $15 billion by 2030. Vijay Kumar, EICI's CEO, emphasized collaborating with policymakers to enhance India's global logistics stature, in alignment with the government's vision of becoming a $30 trillion economy by 2047.
