In the wake of a recent Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash, Air India is witnessing a downturn in its bookings, with a noticeable drop of around 18–22% in international routes and 10–12% domestically. The crash impacted a flight bound for London, leading to the tragic loss of lives of passengers and people on the ground.

Ravi Gosain, President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators, highlighted a dip in Air India's bookings and fare reductions as temporary reactions to the incident. Fares have decreased by 8–15% due to a mix of competitive and yield correction strategies.

Despite an increase in flight cancellations internationally and domestically, authorities assure there is no systemic safety concern. The decline in bookings is expected to stabilize as confidence in travel safety is reaffirmed by entities like the DGCA.
