The European Union's watchdogs issued a formal accusation against online retailer Temu, alleging the company has not taken adequate steps to prevent illegal product sales on its platform.
This follows an investigation initiated last year under the Digital Services Act, which aims to enhance user safety on online platforms. Preliminary findings indicate the presence of non-compliant goods on Temu, such as baby toys and small electronics.
Temu, popular for offering low-cost items from Chinese sellers, has maintained cooperation with the EU Commission but faces significant penalties if found in violation of regulations.
