Odisha Extends Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana to Boost Irrigation

The Odisha government has extended the Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana for five additional years. The scheme aims to enhance irrigation facilities by constructing check dams, benefiting agricultural productivity and providing drinking water and groundwater recharge across water-stressed regions. The estimated budget allocated for this is Rs 2,738 crore.

The Odisha government further extends the 'Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana (MATY)-3.0' through 2029-30, aiming to improve irrigation.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's Cabinet approved this extension, which includes plans for 3,313 new check dams and upgrades to 3,529 existing ones, enhancing over 57,000 hectares of irrigation.

The Water Resources department emphasizes dual benefits of irrigation and drinking water, with a Rs 2,738 crore budget earmarked for increased agricultural productivity and water resource management.
