The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a series of exemptions to embattled airline IndiGo to help restore its disrupted operations. These disruptions have persisted for four consecutive days, with over 1,000 flights being cancelled on Friday alone.
The regulatory body announced relaxations concerning the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) and re-assigned pilots, including those undergoing refresher training, to fill gaps in pilot availability until February 2026.
A dedicated panel has been formed to investigate and review operational oversights that triggered widespread delays and cancellations. The DGCA emphasized the unprecedented exemptions aim to achieve operational stability while maintaining safety standards.
