IndiGo, the country's leading domestic carrier, announced the cancellation of over 800 flights on Saturday, a significant decrease from more than 1,000 flights on Friday. The airline attributed the disruptions to transitional challenges associated with new flight duty and rest period norms for pilots.
In a bid to restore normalcy, IndiGo has prioritized stabilizing schedules, minimizing delays, and ensuring customer support. The airline collaborates with airports and partners to keep passengers informed via terminal updates, website information, and direct notifications. Refunds for disrupted flights are being expedited, with passengers advised to check the airline's website for assistance.
The civil aviation ministry has intervened, mandating IndiGo to complete all refund processes by Sunday evening and ensure baggage is returned within 48 hours. Non-compliance could lead to regulatory actions. In response, the airline has set up dedicated passenger support and refund facilitation cells to streamline the process.
