Thwarted Attack on Jaffar Express: A Persistent Threat in Balochistan

On Sunday, security forces successfully thwarted an attempted attack on the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan, Pakistan, a region regularly plagued by insurgent activities.
According to a media report, unidentified insurgents placed an improvised explosive device on the Peshawar-bound train's track in the Nasirabad area. Authorities acted quickly, cordoned off the region, and defused the device. The Jaffar Express narrowly avoided a similar incident last month, and earlier this year, it suffered a deadly insurgent attack resulting in 26 fatalities.
Due to ongoing security concerns, both the Jaffar Express and another train were halted in Jacobabad. Services will only resume once the area is deemed safe. These persistent threats highlight the ongoing challenges in maintaining safety on Pakistan's railway routes.
