Adalat.ai, a pioneering legal-tech venture, is reshaping India's judicial landscape with AI-powered automation. At the Carnegie Global Technology Summit 2025, CEO Utkarsh Saxena discussed the firm's breakthroughs in improving case-processing in district courts, targeting the reduction of rampant court delays and backlogs.
Saxena pointed out that India's judicial delays are largely due to outdated manual and paper-based processes. These hinder efficiency and misallocate judicial resources. Adalat.ai's solutions aim to mitigate these issues, offering AI technologies to streamline court operations, allowing judges to focus on decision-making.
The company's flagship development, a sophisticated legal speech-to-text transcription system, is designed to tackle the shortage of stenographers in lower courts, accelerating the transcription of testimonies. This tool, which supports multiple Indian languages, has already made significant impacts, boosting the output of courts. Saxena revealed that their technology is active in 4,000 courtrooms, with widespread deployment plans as partnerships with state governments grow, including a recent mandate from Kerala to integrate their solutions statewide starting November 1.
