Karnataka Boosts Plastic Sector with New Parks and Eco-Friendly Initiatives

The Karnataka government is ramping up efforts to boost its plastic sector by setting up dedicated plastic parks in Mangaluru and Vijayapura, aiming for a modern hub that fosters both economic and employment growth. Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil revealed these plans on Saturday.

During the launch of PLASTINDIA 2026, Patil announced the forthcoming establishment of a new campus for the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) within the Mangaluru Plastic Park. This initiative aims to provide specialized training and promote research in polymer science, bolstering the sector's skill base. The 12th International Plastics Exhibition and Conference, PLASTINDIA 2026, is set for February in New Delhi.

Addressing environmental concerns, Patil highlighted the importance of tackling the city's significant plastic waste. He assured government backing for entrepreneurs ready to engage in sustainable waste management solutions. As the plastics industry aims for a USD 50 billion valuation, the state remains committed to providing the necessary infrastructure to support this growth.
