Nineteen people have tragically lost their lives following a catastrophic multi-vehicle accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, officials confirmed on Thursday.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh revealed that while four victims have been identified, DNA samples of remaining bodies are being processed for identification. The accident, involving eight buses and two smaller vehicles, resulted in a massive blaze that left many bodies severely charred.

In the aftermath, around 90 were injured, with most discharged after medical care. To prevent future incidents, the state has implemented new safety measures including convoy travel, suspending traffic in low visibility, and CCTV installation. An investigation led by Additional District Magistrate Amresh Maurya is underway.
