On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India's inaugural Vande Bharat sleeper train, marking a significant development in the nation's railway infrastructure. This fully air-conditioned train promises an enhanced travel experience akin to that of an airline, while maintaining cost-effectiveness for passengers.
The train, which spans the Howrah to Guwahati route, is engineered to make long journeys quicker, cutting travel time by approximately 2.5 hours. It is also expected to act as a catalyst for religious tourism and boosting the economies of the regions it serves.
During his two-day tour of eastern India, Modi, blending political strategy with infrastructure commitments, will lay the foundation stones for various projects aimed at enhancing connectivity. These efforts are part of a larger initiative to accelerate development in West Bengal and the North East.
