The Portuguese Foreign Minister, Augusto Santos Silva said today, February 15, in Luanda that in the current macroeconomic and budgetary framework in Angola, Portuguese entrepreneurs have a lot of opportunities to bet on the country.

Augusto Santos Silva, 62, arrived in Angola's capital city, Luanda on February 14 for a two-day State visit to prepare the visit of the president of this European country to Angola in March 2019.

According to him, this is exactly what he will reiterate to representatives of Portuguese businessmen who work in Angola at a private meeting held at the residence of the Portuguese ambassador in Luanda, João Caetano da Silva. "I want to hear about the past and the present, but also about the future, since the message from President João Lourenço at the Economic Forum in Porto [in November 2018] was very clear: 'We want you to help us replace imports, that help us to consolidate our economy and, above all, to help us diversify our economy, we want investors. "This message, in its clarity, challenges us all: we agree with it and we must respond positively," Augusto Santos Silva opined.

He further said that the new macroeconomic and budgetary framework in Angola opens up a lot of opportunities for Portuguese companies. He also highlighted one of the most important issues for Portuguese businessmen is the issue of payment regularization. "One of the plans in which the two countries have worked most is to regulate the payments that were not yet being processed," he added.

His visit is also aimed at assessing the degree of implementation of the agreements signed in November 2018 during the visit of Angola's President João Lourenço to Portugal. He recalled the Head of State's visit to Portugal in November 2018 followed by the signing up of 24 agreements, memoranda of understanding and protocols between the two countries.
