The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned a major investment initiative worth Rs 2,500-crore by NSPSL Speciality Chemicals Pvt Ltd. This marks a decisive step towards establishing a cathode material manufacturing facility in the Chittoor district.

Spread over 105 acres in Gudupalle mandal, the facility will localize one of the most crucial components in the electronics and battery value chain—cathode materials. Used in lithium-ion batteries, these materials are pivotal for the performance of electric vehicles (EVs), consumer electronics, and other sectors.

This development is part of the larger Andhra Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy (4.0) 2025–30. It seeks to bolster India's independence from the international supply chain by amplifying domestic production capabilities, thereby advancing the country's position in global energy transition efforts.
