Adani Group Settles US Sanctions Case for $275 Million
The Adani Group has agreed to pay $275 million to settle allegations of violating US sanctions on Iran. The settlement, which involved no admission of guilt, followed proactive cooperation with US authorities. It resolves potential civil liabilities related to Iranian LPG imports. The resolution is part of broader US legal proceedings involving the conglomerate.
The Adani Group, an Indian conglomerate, has agreed to a $275 million settlement with the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) over alleged violations of US sanctions on Iran. This move follows extensive cooperation and proactive disclosures by the Adani Enterprises, the group's flagship firm.
Adani Enterprises faced allegations of buying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from a Dubai trader under false pretenses, with the LPG originating from Iran instead of Oman or Iraq as purported. Despite the settlement, there is no admission of guilt, removing a significant legal obstacle for the conglomerate.
This agreement comes amid ongoing US investigations involving Adani executives and subsidiaries. Despite these legal challenges, the Adani Group continues to expand its infrastructure, logistics, and energy operations, reporting robust financial performance during the first half of FY26.
