The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially filed an FIR concerning alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 medical entrance examination held on May 5. This follows a formal reference from the Union education ministry, spurred by students' protests and ongoing litigations seeking an investigation into claims of paper leaks.
According to officials, the ministry cited 'isolated incidents' in multiple states during the exam. Prioritizing the case, CBI has deployed special teams to Godhra and Patna, where local police had already registered cases of question paper leaks.
On Sunday, the Gujarat government issued a notification transferring the probe to the CBI. Additional Chief Secretary A K Rakesh confirmed the handover of the case initially registered under various IPC sections. The central agency is set to take over investigations from both Gujarat and Bihar police.
