In a significant move to foster patriotism among students, the Himachal Pradesh government announced the daily recitation of the national anthem in morning assemblies across all schools in the state. Officials confirmed this directive on Tuesday.
The initiative also includes compulsory daily unfurling of the national flag in all High and Senior Secondary Schools. This, combined with the anthem, aims to instil a deep sense of national pride and unity in students, stated Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Additionally, the government is set to make Physical Education and Yoga mandatory subjects, ensuring students engage in physical exercise for at least 15 minutes each day. Training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid will also be provided in collaboration with Health and Ayush departments, equipping students with essential life-saving skills. These reforms underscore the government's commitment to holistic education, which emphasizes academic excellence, physical health, and civic responsibility.
