In Latur, youths appointed as apprentices protested for an extension of their tenure and permanent employment under a state skilling initiative. They marched from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Park to the old collectorate to voice their demands.
The apprentices, who were placed in various units under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, claimed their six-month period was ending, fueling their protest.
Additionally, the protesters sought a 10% quota for such apprentices in government jobs. The initiative is led by the Maharashtra Department of Skill Development, Employment, and Entrepreneurship.
