Goa Leads with APAAR: Transforming Student Education Records

Goa has achieved 70% coverage in registering students for APAAR IDs, aimed at revolutionizing education record-keeping. This mandatory initiative, guided by PM Modi and CM Sawant, links all student achievements to a digital ID, offering seamless access and integration under the New Education Policy.

In a landmark move, Goa has achieved 70 percent coverage in registering school students for APAAR IDs, transforming the management of educational records from nursery to Class 12. This initiative, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mandates APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) IDs for students starting the upcoming academic year.

The APAAR ID, which links a student's academic bank of credits (ABC), digitally stores all academic achievements, including credits from various sources like skilling and social work. Goa's Director of Education, Shailesh Zingade, highlighted that while the Union government hasn't enforced the mandate, Goa made it compulsory for accessing services such as midday meals.

This initiative not only ensures easy retrieval of academic certificates via platforms like DigiLocker but also aligns with the New Education Policy's credit system. With significant backing from education professionals and successful district-wise registration drives, Goa is set to climb national ranks in this educational reform.
