The Kerala Congress (Mani) chairman, Jose K Mani, assures the public that the PM SHRI scheme's implementation in the state will be closely monitored by the government. Speaking at a press conference, Mani stated that the LDF government is committed to addressing any concerns from the public and allies about the scheme and general education issues.

Mani highlighted the potential financial loss of Rs 1,031 crore annually and nearly Rs 5,000 crore over five years if Kerala refrains from participating. He emphasized the state's ability to control the scheme's implementation, urging for its acceptance despite it being a Central initiative.

Elaborating on the scheme, Mani mentioned that two schools per block panchayat will be included, covering approximately 12,000 schools nationwide with a Central investment of about Rs 20,000 crore, following a 60:40 Centre-state funding ratio. Despite Kerala's independent development efforts, the state risks losing Central funds by not joining, impacting hundreds of schools and causing uncertainty among teachers.
