Kerala Government Halts PM SHRI Scheme Amid Political Tensions
The Kerala government has paused the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme due to strong dissent from its ally, CPI, which perceives the scheme as aligning with the RSS agenda. A seven-member Cabinet sub-committee will review the scheme before further action. This decision alleviates political uncertainty in the Left Front.

The CPI(M)-led Left government in Kerala has decided to halt the execution of the PM SHRI scheme, following objections from its coalition partner, CPI. The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who cited controversies surrounding the scheme's implementation.
Chief Minister Vijayan established a seven-member Cabinet sub-committee to examine the scheme in detail. This comes amid accusations from the CPI that the initiative would further an RSS agenda in Kerala's education sector. Despite initial support for the MoU, CPI fears deviation from the Left Democratic Front's policies.
Political tension appears to have subsided with the government's latest decision, although the Leader of Opposition has criticized the move as inadequate. The matter remains contentious, with a promise of a report from the newly formed sub-committee before any implementation progresses.
