In a significant move at the University of Delhi, Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh advocated for a cultural shift towards permanent faculty recruitment during the Academic Council meeting held on Friday. He emphasized the necessity of regular academic appointments twice a year to minimize the reliance on guest faculty.

Despite these initiatives, dissenting voices emerged, notably from AC member Maya John, who challenged the university's stance on contesting a Delhi High Court ruling related to ad-hoc teachers. The meeting also witnessed approval for new medical courses and revised PhD guidelines.

Concerned members raised several issues, including alleged irregularities in faculty recruitment, the challenging implementation of new undergraduate curriculum guidelines, and calls for a fact-finding committee. There was also criticism of disciplinary measures following an assault incident at Bhim Rao Ambedkar College.
