NEET exam postponement request still pending; here's what you should do

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Goa president, Ahraz Mulla had approached the President, Prime Minister and Union HRD ministry yesterday for postponement of NEET 2019 exam as cyclone Fani ravaged Odisha causing extensive damage in various parts of the state.

"NEET exam for medical entrance needs a lot of concentration and dedication with the preparation of at least 2 years. The cyclone FANI that has reached the coastal belt of East India has created destruction, with no power supply and another unavailability of other basic needs. The students have dedicated 2 years to clear this test, but due to the cyclone, it would not be right to conduct this test for the entire country considering the fact that it is an All India Exam with admission based on merit," Mulla had said in his letter.

The government is yet to reply to the request and time is running out as the exam is currently scheduled for tomorrow. Over 15.19 lakh candidates are expected to appear to get admissions into undergraduate medical courses.

You should continue with the preparations as rescheduling the national exam at the eleventh hour might not be feasible for the government.

The exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 5 (Sunday) from 2 pm to 5 pm. Candidates need to be careful about the venue and reporting time. The NTA recently changed exam centres of many students citing Lok Sabha elections and 'unavoidable circumstances' as the reason.

Candidates need to reach the venue of the test at the reporting time (12 noon) mentioned in the NEET 2019 admit card. If a candidate reports beyond the gate closing time (1:30 pm) at the centre, he will not be allowed to enter.

Candidates need to carry a copy of admit card in form of an A4 sized coloured pint out, at least two passport-sized pictures as uploaded on the application form and a valid photo id proof which can include Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID etc. Students belonging to PwD category who wish to avail benefits need to carry a certificate too.

Sundry items like wallet, goggles, handbags, belt, cap etc are not allowed inside the exam hall. Watches/wrist watches, bracelets, or any kind of elaborate ornaments are also barred from the examination hall.
