The International Forum on TVET in Latin America took place on May 29th in Montevideo, Uruguay, bringing together more than 600 people including official representatives from 18 Latin American countries.
The Buenos Aires regional office of IIEP-UNESCO organized the Forum as part of the Uruguayan Education and Work Week, alongside various Uruguayan institutions such as the National Institute for Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), the Labour University of Uruguay (UTU) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC).
The event was also organized in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Education Office for Latin American and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO).
The forum provided a platform to discuss TVET in Latin America and its related challenges. It was a place to share experiences, best practices, and foster capacity building within the Member States.
The forum's panels addressed the following challenges:
How to articulate TVET and the labour market;
How to foster cooperation between the State and the private sector;
What the specific pedagogies are for TVET.
The panellists came from the academic world, representatives from international organizations, unions, and non-governmental organizations from across the region. Naceur Chraiti participated in the second panel, to present IIEP Pôle de Dakar's experience in developing Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in TVET in several West African countries.
Following the forum, on 30 May, the country representatives and some of the panellists participated in a technical meeting in which they addressed specific experiences and needs for TVET in their home countries.
