Onir Collaborates on Unique Anthology 'My Melbourne'

Filmmaker Onir describes his participation in the anthology 'My Melbourne' as an unprecedented experience, marking the first time he has worked alongside other directors under a collective project. The anthology opened the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and is an India-Australia collaboration backed by Vic Screen and Screen Australia.
The anthology comprises of shorts by directors Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Rima Das, and Onir himself. With films exploring themes of migration, identity, and belonging, the cross-cultural project also involved mentee directors from Australia. Onir notes the project's challenging yet exciting nature, bringing together varied cultural sensibilities.
Onir's segment, 'Nandini', was based on a story from an Indian-Australian girl and tackles themes of acceptance and loss. All anthology shorts were filmed in Australia with local cast and crew, promoting diversity and inclusion from a migrant perspective. As part of IFFM, Onir will also present 'Kaagazi Naav' and is set to start shooting 'We Are', a sequel to his acclaimed 'I Am'.
