Tragic Lightning Strikes in Odisha: Nine Dead, Twelve Injured

Nine people were killed and twelve others injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes across Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for the families of the deceased and free medical treatment for the injured. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

In a series of tragic incidents, nine people lost their lives and twelve others sustained injuries due to lightning strikes in various parts of Odisha on Saturday, according to police reports.

The office of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed two fatalities each in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts, with one death reported in Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Ganjam districts.

Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of those who perished and ensured free medical treatment for the injured. Meanwhile, a report from Bargarh district mentioned that four out of twelve injured individuals are in critical condition and all have been hospitalized.
