Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has found himself under fire following the collapse of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue. Shinde stated he would not hesitate to apologize for the incident, emphasizing the revered status of Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra.
The collapse, occurring four days ago in Sindhudurg district, has led to intense political activity. The state government has established a technical committee to investigate the incident, involving engineers, IIT experts, and Navy officials. Meanwhile, NCP members, spearheaded by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, staged silent protests across the state.
Shinde reiterated his commitment to rebuilding the statue and has formed two joint panels for investigation and reconstruction. The Indian Navy, which coordinated the initial project, has pledged to assist in these efforts. Demonstrations continue, with opposition leaders planning a protest march in Mumbai.
