The National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) set to rise in Lothal, Gujarat promises a significant boost to local economies, creating 22,000 jobs, chiefly impacting tourism and community development. The project got the green light from the Union cabinet, marking a historic step in preserving India's ancient maritime legacy.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing NMHC's potential to be the world's greatest maritime complex. Designed by Architect Hafeez Contractor, Phase 1A will showcase six galleries, prominently featuring an Indian Navy and Coast Guard gallery, marking it among the nation's largest.
The complex will draw visitors with its unique features, like a lighthouse museum and ship-building experience, alongside recreating Lothal's old town. Set in the heart of an ancient Indus Valley site, NMHC will proceed through multiple phases, bringing together cultural heritage and modern tourism.
