From Chips to Culture: Assam’s High-Tech Gesture to PM Modi

At the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a distinctive gift: a one-horned rhinoceros crafted from semiconductor chips. Alongside, a significant agreement for a semiconductor plant worth Rs 27,000 crore with Tata Group was signed.

During the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed Prime Minister Narendra Modi a unique gift symbolizing modern technology and Assamese culture—a rhino crafted from semiconductor chips.

Sarma commemorated the occasion by also presenting Modi with a traditional gamosa and a replica of the Kamakhya Temple.

Coinciding with this, the state inked a Rs 27,000-crore deal with the Tata Group to establish a semiconductor plant, marking a significant investment in technological infrastructure.
