Barefoot Protest: Man Scales Big Ben with Palestinian Flag

On Sunday, a man was arrested after climbing the famous Big Ben tower at the Palace of Westminster in central London while barefoot, carrying a Palestinian flag.

Staging a protest from a ledge several meters above ground, the man finally stepped off the tower after midnight, following negotiations, and descended onto a cherry picker before being transferred to a waiting ambulance.

The incident caused a major standstill around the Palace of Westminster as authorities attempted to reach the man, closing Westminster Bridge and other roads, while public tours of the Houses of Parliament were canceled due to safety concerns.
