Shravan Mela Boosts Economy with Record Pilgrim Turnout

The Shravan Mela at Jharkhand's Baba Baidyanath temple has seen a record turnout of approximately 53 lakh devotees, offering holy water as part of their pilgrimage, according to district officials.

From July 11 to August 5, the temple recorded a substantial income of Rs 7.36 crore, with 60% coming from the Shighra Darshanam facility, officials said. Security was tight, with 564 magistrates, thousands of police, and military personnel ensuring order.

Health services were extensive, with 81 doctors and numerous paramedics on-site. The transport department reported considerable revenue from vehicle entry fees, highlighting the significant economic impact of the festival.
