Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has reportedly received threats amid the controversy surrounding his film, 'The Bengal Files'. Speaking to news agency ANI, Agnihotri claimed that threats have been directed at both himself and his family due to the film's impending release.

Agnihotri recounted past experiences, explaining, "After the release of 'The Kashmir Files,' three fatwas were issued in my name. Since then, I have not traveled with my children, not even once." He described the current situation as a social media lynching targeting his family, particularly his daughter and son.

The filmmaker, who altered the name of the film from 'The Delhi Files: Bengal Chapter' to 'The Bengal Files' for clarity, explained his decision after audiences in the US misunderstood the film's focus. 'The Bengal Files,' which highlights the communal violence in 1940s Bengal, is set for a theatrical release on September 5.
