Goa welcomed Diwali with age-old customs, starting with the burning of demon Narakasur effigies to signify the triumph of good over evil. This ritual, held in towns like Margao and Panaji, drew numerous locals who partook in the festive spirit.
Throughout the state, homes lit up with diyas and lanterns, while firecrackers resonated in the air at dawn. Many followed the tradition of 'abhyangsnan' oil baths. Artists reenacted the symbolic defeat of Narakasur by Lord Krishna, adding a historical touch to the celebration.
State leaders, including Governor P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, extended greetings and highlighted Diwali's significance in fostering unity and cultural heritage. They urged citizens to support local industries and work towards a sustainable future, in line with 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' ideals.
