In Gautampura, the annual Hingot war linked to Diwali left over 30 people injured during Tuesday evening's explosive festivities. The event, steeped in cultural history, features two groups flinging firecracker-laden Hingots at each other.
Despite the evident risks, with two individuals hospitalized for serious injuries including a broken arm, local officials ensure spectators' safety with high nets, barricades, and substantial police presence. However, the tradition continues unabated due to its deep cultural roots.
Tracing back 200 years, to when local guerrilla fighters used similar tactics against Mughal invasions, the Hingot war remains a symbol of historical significance for the participating groups from Gautampura and Runji.
