Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to be a transformative force within India's media and entertainment sector, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju indicated during the CII's BIG Picture Summit 2025. Jaju emphasized the necessity for the industry to adopt AI technology to drive significant productivity gains and job creation.

At IIT Kanpur, proof-of-concept studies are underway for the direct-to-mobile broadcasting project, with extensive stakeholder consultations in progress. Jaju highlighted the dual nature of AI's impact, urging for careful regulation to ensure a balanced development that fosters sustainable growth across various sector verticals.

The CII White Paper, unveiled by Jaju, outlines a roadmap for growth and global competitiveness in India's M&E sector, projected to reach $100 billion by 2030. As AI redefines entertainment, India must leverage its rich cultural storytelling to expand its presence in the global market, thereby enhancing its soft power on the world stage.
