Delhi is set to host a grand celebration at Dilli Haat in anticipation of Deepavali's potential recognition by UNESCO as part of its intangible cultural heritage list, according to the city's Art and Culture Minister, Kapil Mishra.

This marks a significant moment as India hosts the session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the first time. The event, held at the historic Red Fort, commenced on December 8 and will culminate on December 13.

Expectations run high with the Delhi Government planning extensive programs across the city. The announcement regarding Deepavali's status is expected on Wednesday, with celebrations anticipated to be attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Cabinet. India's inclusion list already boasts elements like the Kumbh Mela and Durga Puja.
