In a strategic move to optimize its tourism potential, the Jharkhand assembly passed the Jharkhand Tourism Development and Registration (Amendment) Bill 2025 on Wednesday. This amendment aims to establish the Jharkhand Tourism Area Authority (JTAA) to improve civic amenities at prominent tourist attractions.
State minister Sudivya Kumar, while tabling the bill, emphasized that the JTAA will address key areas such as cleanliness, safety, and parking at locations not covered by urban local bodies. The district's deputy commissioners will preside over the authority, responsible for managing the fee-collecting mechanism to aid developmental efforts.
Despite some lawmakers advocating for the inclusion of local MLAs in the authority, the bill was passed as proposed. The assembly also tackled other legislative matters, including the withdrawal of bills related to private universities and issues raised concerning Jharkhand Bhavan policies in Delhi.
