A gold crown was reportedly stolen from the revered Thawe temple in Bihar's Gopalganj district early Thursday morning. Authorities confirmed that CCTV footage revealed unknown individuals absconding with the crown, which weighed around 500 grams.
In response, a case has been filed, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up to expedite the investigation. SP Avdhesh Dixit assured that the perpetrators would be apprehended soon.
The incident is alarming, especially given the presence of a police post at the temple. An inquiry will also address the actions, or lack thereof, by police personnel at the scene. SP Dixit emphasized that strict measures would be taken if negligence is uncovered. The temple, devoted to Goddess Durga, known locally as 'Thawe wali Mata', remains vigilant in the wake of this theft.
