In a major shift in India's international travel scene, Millennials and Gen Z spearheaded nine out of ten trips abroad in 2025, as revealed by a recent report from travel-banking fintech platform Niyo. This trend depicts a strong digital-first and experience-driven travel culture among young Indians.

The report highlights that Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai serve as the primary origins for these journeys, stressing the pivotal role of India's leading metros in outbound travel. Solo travel has become the primary mode of exploration, accounting for 63.8% of trips, indicating a growing fascination with independent adventures.

Asian and Central Asian destinations like Thailand, the UAE, and Georgia topped the list of preferred locations. The report also sheds light on changing spending habits, with shopping dominating overseas expenditures, closely followed by dining and transport costs, based on data from over a million Indian travelers.
