Actor Kiefer Sutherland, famous for his role as Jack Bauer on '24', was taken into custody early Monday in Los Angeles. Authorities say he physically assaulted a ride-hail driver and allegedly made criminal threats.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call shortly after midnight, reporting an altercation near Hollywood Hills. Sutherland, after allegedly attacking the driver, was briefly detained and later released on bail.

The actor, with a history of legal troubles related to alcohol, is due for a court appearance on February 2. Attempts to contact his representatives for comments were unsuccessful.
