Indore witnessed a series of injuries during the Makar Sankranti festival due to the banned Chinese manja, a synthetic thread notorious for causing severe harm. Authorities reported four injuries and the arrest of 25 individuals linked to its use.
The victims, hurt while walking through different areas of the city, have been hospitalized but are now out of danger, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya.
The police crackdown on the sale and use of this deadly thread continues. Despite its prohibition, the allure of using Chinese manja in kite flying endures among enthusiasts, aggravating safety concerns should those painful threads carve through the air.
