The Tamil Nadu government has approved a substantial relief package to aid farmers affected by adverse weather. Following Cyclone Ditwah and the Northeast monsoon, which devastated crops across 1.39 lakh acres, a new Government Order has granted ₹111.96 crore to 84,848 farmers.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin emphasized swift action, mandating immediate assessment of damages by the Revenue and Agriculture departments. This intervention follows last year's ₹289.63 crore compensation release, demonstrating continued government support for the agricultural sector.
On January 15, 2026, a directive permitted the dispatch of funds from the State Disaster Response Fund. Farmers in 33 districts, such as Ariyalur and Kanyakumari, will see direct bank transfers, immediately easing their plight amidst challenging weather conditions.
