The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken up a public interest litigation (PIL) regarding the disputed Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Masjid complex in Dhar district. The PIL aims to secure worshipping rights for the Jain community within the historically significant complex.
The case, filed by Delhi-based activist Salek Chand Jain, comes amid ongoing disputes over the site's ownership, with claims from both Hindu and Muslim communities. The court has directed the government and other respondents to file their objections by April 2.
The complex's religious affiliation, possibly dating back to the 11th century, is contested, with historical assertions made based on an archaeological survey. A previous ASI report suggested that parts of the current structure were built using repurposed temple materials, escalating the controversy further.
