In a bid to position the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a premier diving destination, the local administration is set to attempt two Guinness World Records this weekend. Lieutenant Governor DK Joshi will participate in these high-profile events, officials confirmed on Friday.

Set for May 2 and 3 at Swaraj Dweep, the record attempts include the 'Largest Flag Unfurled Underwater' and the 'Tallest Human Stack Underwater.' Joshi, who is also the vice chairman of the Islands Development Agency, will be directly involved in the activities. The flag unfurling will occur near Radha Nagar Beach, featuring a substantial 60-metre by 40-metre tricolour beneath the sea.

The second event aims to create a human stack at a minimum height of 10 meters, near the Swaraj Dweep jetty lighthouse. The initiative, coordinated with multiple departments, involves skilled divers and technical experts to ensure safety and compliance with Guinness World Records standards. The events are expected to draw international attention and elevate the islands as a hub for scuba diving and eco-tourism.
