Russian filmmaker Pasha Talankin recently faced a perplexing airport security issue when he was barred from carrying his Oscar statuette onto a flight at JFK Airport. Despite flying with it multiple times before, the 3.8 kg award was deemed a potential threat by security officials.
Talankin, who co-directed the documentary 'Mr. Nobody Against Putin', had to check the Oscar as cargo. However, upon arriving in Frankfurt, the statuette was missing. Lufthansa is urgently searching for the lost Oscar, which holds significant sentimental and symbolic value.
The incident comes at a time when Talankin, living in exile, continues to face challenges stemming from his public defiance of Kremlin directives. The lost Oscar adds another layer to his ongoing battle for artistic and personal freedom.
