"Law of the Jungle" is currently under controversy! The original network SBS has issued an official statement related to the recent criticism for "catching and consuming giant endangered clams in Thailand." The show aired that controversial episode on June 29.

"Law of the Jungle" is a superhit South Korean reality-documentary show. Each episode of this SBS' show features celebrities sent to survive in remote locations around the world. The viewers, mainly from South Korea were shocked and disappointed when they came to know that the production, cast and crew had trapped protected giant clams during the period of filming in a remote location in Thailand. The news did spread like fire when it was said that they "illegally" hunted the endangered clams.

Yonhap, a South Korea news agency said after having a conversation with the South Korean Ambassador that the South Korean embassy was looking into the claims that "Law of the Jungle's" production team allegedly violated the law. It also said that it would coordinate between the Thai officials and the production company.

However, SBS has recently issued an official apology regarding the hunting of endangered clams on "Law of the Jungle." An unnamed source from the reality-documentary show made a statement on July 8 that the actress Lee Yul Eum. The actress was actually portrayed catching the endangered species during the episode. "We deeply apologize once more for this [recent] issue. After implementing a thorough internal investigation, SBS will be taking strong measures following the findings. We will also be taking on the posture of shouldering maximum responsibility so that Lee Yul Eum will not be negatively affected," the source stated.

The apology statement by the original network SBS, according to Soompi, is as follows:

"SBS held a personnel committee meeting on July 18 regarding the "Law of the Jungle in Lost Island" production team's capture of giant clams in Thailand. The decision was made to issue a warning, probation, and salary reduction to the entertainment department head, CP (chief producer), and producer, respectively, and the producer has been removed from the "Law of the Jungle" production team.

In addition, SBS has terminated VOD streaming of all "Law of the Jungle in Lost Island" episodes to minimize the discomfort of viewers, and an apology to viewers will be broadcast on the [July] 20 episode of "Law of the Jungle." We will do our best to prevent recurrences by conducting thorough preliminary research and by providing a manual for the prevention of similar incidents and legal risks overseas. Our apology to viewers is as follows:

SBS once again expresses deep apologies for not having sufficient knowledge of the local regulations in regards to the filming and hunting of giant clams in the" 'Law of the Jungle in Lost Island" episodes in Thailand.

SBS has terminated VOD streaming of all "Law of the Jungle in Lost Island" episodes in order to minimize the discomfort of viewers.

In the future, we promise to do our best to prevent recurrences by conducting thorough preliminary research and by providing a manual."
