Adani Group's Power Move: A $1 Billion Milestone Amidst Past Controversies
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, has successfully raised $1 billion through a share sale, marking the first equity raise since the Hindenburg report. The qualified institutional placement was oversubscribed, demonstrating renewed investor confidence despite past allegations of accounting fraud and stock manipulation.
Billionaire Gautam Adani's power transmission unit has successfully raised $1 billion through a share sale, marking the first public equity raise by the conglomerate since a critical Hindenburg report wiped out billions in shareholder value.
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. garnered funds via a qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue, sources with direct knowledge revealed. The QIP, launched on Tuesday, attracted thrice the demand, totaling about Rs 26,000 crore, making it the largest transaction in India's energy sector.
The issue closed at Rs 1,135 per share, a 14% discount from the issue price of Rs 976 per share. Notable investors such as GQG, QIP, ADIA, and domestic institutions like Bandhan MF and Nomura participated in the QIP. The successful fundraising is perceived as a significant vote of investor confidence following the setbacks from the Hindenburg report.
