In a significant crackdown Thursday, local law enforcement agencies and the Border Security Force conducted a joint operation at Agartala Railway Station, arresting 10 individuals. Among the detainees were eight Bangladeshi nationals suspected of being involved in cross-border human trafficking.
The suspects were intercepted while preparing to board a train, purportedly to facilitate illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border. Authorities are currently delving into the network's operations and determining the charges to be brought against the arrested individuals, officials confirmed. The Bangladeshi nationals detained have been identified as Sahadat Hossain, Trisha Akther, Shapla Akther, Raju Ahammed, Sahalam, Sukurdi Shek, Md. Biplab, and Karim Shek. The other two apprehended are Ratan Paul and Sukla Sarkar.
The detainees are being held at a local police station for further questioning. Additionally, authorities will liaise with Bangladeshi officials to uncover more details about the case and consider the repatriation of the Bangladeshi nationals. This operation underscores the relentless efforts by security forces to thwart illegal cross-border actions and human trafficking in the region.
