In a significant crackdown, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, seized 80,000 yaba tablets from the Hezamara area of Tripura on Saturday. Valued at Rs 12.8 crores, the illicit drug was confiscated in West Tripura district.
Yaba, a potent and addictive stimulant, is illegal under India's Controlled Substances Act. This operation follows a previous arrest on July 13, where Assam Rifles apprehended three individuals and recovered heroin worth over Rs 7 crore near the Nuiland-Dimapur road.
According to an official release, Assam Rifles, acting on intelligence, set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) on July 10, intercepting a vehicle loaded with 1,134 grams of heroin, concealed in 81 plastic soap cases, and arrested three suspects.
