In a significant development, the Delhi High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Excise Policy case. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promptly called for Kejriwal's resignation, labeling him as morally unfit to continue as the CM of Delhi. AAP's Legal Cell head, Sanjeev Nasiar, announced plans to approach the Supreme Court to contest the High Court's decision.
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Kejriwal of receiving kickbacks and welcomed the court's acknowledgment of sufficient evidence for his arrest. Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva echoed the call for Kejriwal's resignation, describing him as the 'facilitator' of the alleged scam. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari expressed no surprise at the court's decision, citing adequate proof against Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, CBI's Special Public Prosecutor Advocate DP Singh defended the legality of Kejriwal's arrest, stating the investigation was thorough and timely. Despite the setback, AAP remains resolute, with Nasiar emphasizing their ongoing fight to 'save the Constitution' and their commitment to seeking justice through the Supreme Court.
